December 6, 2025 — Marikina Valley, Philippines A two-lane rural bridge spanning the Marikina River collapsed Saturday afternoon as a sudden flash flood surged beneath it, tearing away critical support columns and sending a large section of roadway crashing into the churning water below. Remarkably, no injuries were reported, thanks in large part to motorists who had stopped moments earlier after noticing the bridge deck beginning to bow.
