Today I stopped by one of Houston’s most iconic kolache spots — a bakery that’s been around since 1969, known for its scratch-made, Czech-inspired dough and fun collabs with local businesses. Started with the sweet kolaches: strawberry and blueberry. The dough is soft, airy, lightly buttery… the strawberry is bright and jammy, and the blueberry melts into the dough like warm compote. Then onto the savory classics: sausage egg & cheese, kielbasa jalapeño & cheese, and their collab with the Michel

One of Houston’s most iconic Italian spots — run by a chef who grew up cooking rustic Tuscan food in Italy, and named after her yellow lab, Giacomo 🐶🇮🇹 With perfect fall weather, the patio was the move. We started with cheesy roasted eggplant in tomato-cream sauce, spicy garlicky shrimp you have to dip bread into, and crispy pan-fried cheese with briny olives and peppers. All hits. For mains, we tried buttery ravioli, fresh pasta with a rich meat sauce, and a golden pork chop sautéed in butte

Houston, come with me to one of Montrose’s coolest record bars serving some seriously good food — 93 Til. Inspired by Tokyo’s vinyl bar culture, it’s cozy, low-key, and always delivers on great drinks and seasonal dishes. We started with the scallop crudo, silky and bright in a blood-orange and pomegranate broth. Then the wagyu short rib steak, rich and tender with red-wine jus, smoky mushrooms, and a sweet-spicy cantaloupe jalapeño chutney. I had to get their fried chicken sandwich — ultra-cris

Indulged in a pre-NFL playoff feast at bb.q chicken before the Texans faced the Ravens. 9-mile run to justify the impending food coma. Explored their Korean fried chicken goodness – honey garlic stole the show. Shoutout to @Nick Scurfield for repping the Texans in Baltimore #nflplayoffs #houstontexans #chickenwings

Houston… if you’ve ever wanted to put my meat in your mouth, now’s your chance 🌶🍔 I partnered with PINCHO to drop Shawn’s Spicy Burger — two Angus smash patties, melted cheddar, jalapeños, grilled poblanos, diced shallots, and my own spicy sauce on a soft brioche bun. Big flavor, big heat, zero subtlety. Available at ALL HOUSTON AREA PINCHO locations until the end of November. Go get your taste, Houston 🔥👀 #houstonburgers #houstonfoodies #burger #spicyburger | shawnthefoodsheep

This Houston West African spot just earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand and was named one of The New York Times’ 50 Best New Restaurants in America 👏 ChòpnBlọk blends modern Houston energy with rich West African soul — warm earth tones, hand-textured walls, and custom art that celebrates African culture. It’s stylish, communal, and alive — where heritage, music, and food come together beautifully. If it’s your first time: 🔥 Polo Club Suya – smoky, spicy grilled beef skewers 🥣 Golden Bowl – jollof

Big night at BOL Midtown: Friday, May 30th, 7–10PM! We’re dropping three new flavor-packed creations: • Shawn’s Secret Sauce (creamy, mysteriously addictive) • The Sheep-a-dilla (quesadilla with chicken, BOL hot sauce, and more) • Samosa Chaat (street food classic, reimagined) …and a fourth surprise item you’ll have to show up to discover. We’ll have local vendors, great vibes, and a portion of the night’s proceeds will benefit a mental health organization in Greater Houston in honor of Mental H

Come with me to Houston’s new Japanese lifestyle store 🏯✨ I’m Shawn and I’m on a mission to show y’all things to do in Houston that aren’t just eating or drinking. Today we’re at Tadaima in the Heights, a clothing and lifestyle concept store that opened in January. “Tadaima” means “I’m home” in Japanese, and that’s exactly how it feels. Cozy, curated, and community-focused. Inside you’ll find fashion, home goods, and lifestyle pieces from some of Houston’s best vintage shops, designers, and art

The holidays should feel like comfort and connection—but rising prices have made it harder for many families. 💚 That’s why I’m volunteering today with @feedingamerica and the Houston Food Bank. Together, we can make a real difference. $1 helps provide up to 20 meals to families facing hunger. Your generosity can keep the spirit of the season going far beyond one plate, one table, one day. ✨ Let’s share the warmth of a holiday meal. 🍗 Only one new Houston barbecue spot made the Michelin Guide in 2025, and it’s Michelin-recommended J-Bar-M Barbecue. A massive Central Texas–style BBQ joint and beer garden opened by John Toomey at 93 years old, proving it’s never too late to chase a dream. Feels more like a high-end sports bar than a classic smokehouse, perfect for barbecue and a game. The brisket was tender with a peppery bark, the turkey was lean and flavorful, and the mac and cheese was thick, gooey, and cheesy. Don’t skip
