The Coastal Discovery Museum is heavy-hearted to hear of the passing of Michael Smalls, a true Lowcountry legend. Michael was a seventh-generation Gullah basket sewer who had been making baskets and teaching our visitors about the connections between history, nature, and Gullah culture for as long as the museum has been at Honey Horn.
