Here’s, from my experience, what tends to help. First, you have to manage the load. For most runners, the aggravating factor is running itself. That doesn’t automatically mean stopping all together, but it does mean pulling volume and or intensity back to a level your legs can tolerate without flaring things up.

Currently 10 weeks pain free after having chronic shin splints since truly focusing in on my rehab and recovery. When it comes to strengthening my shins these are EASILY my number 1! I started out doing standing tibial raises on a wall and then transitioned to these after 4 weeks of consistent training 3x a week.
