Cattle with horns absolutely know they have them, and they’re surprisingly good at maneuvering around with intention and awareness. Just like someone carrying a wide box knows how far away from the walls they need to be to avoid hitting their elbows, cows learn how to navigate gates, feed bunks, and other animals without bumping into things. Horns are part of their natural “spatial awareness,” and they adapt to using them as they grow. It’s pretty amazing to watch how coordinated they really are
