A new multi-agency operation was stood up in Northern Australia this week aimed at detecting and deterring illegal foreign fishing vessels in the area. Operation Lunar led by the ABF, bolsters our existing operations and presence in Kimberley Marine Park and the Torres Strait. As a part of Operation Lunar, we’ve coordinated assets from Defence Australia, our own air and patrol vessels, along with support from Australian Fisheries Management Authority. All paws on deck in WA training exercise Recently, officers from the WA Detector Dog Unit and Maritime Operations and Marine Group conducted a joint training exercise that involved the boarding and searching of a vessel at sea.
