The California governor has clashed with Trump in recent days over the president's deployment of the National Guard to quell protests in Los Angeles.

Gov. Gavin Newsom, in an address called “Democracy at a Crossroads,” called on Americans to stand up to President Trump.

Newsom, widely assumed to be a leading contender for the Democratic 2028 presidential ticket, fired back at criticism with a barrage of social media posts.
