Irish golfer Pádraig Harrington closed it out Sunday to claim the 2025 Senior British Open Championship at Sunningdale Old Course.

Harrington and Leonard are past British Open champions — Leonard at Royal Troon in 1997, Harrington winning the first of two claret jugs a decade later at Carnoustie (2007) and Royal Birkdale (2008). Either one can become the fifth player to win the British Open and Senior British Open, a feat last accomplished by Darren Clarke in 2022.

The 53-year-old took a one-shot lead into the third round and heads into the final round two shots clear of American Justin Leonard on 11-under. Denmark’s Thomas Bjorn is just behind on 10-under. Harrington won the US Senior Open for the second time last month and has been a runner-up at the Senior Open in 2022 and 2023.
