Residents in one Washington, D.C., neighborhood protested the arrival of National Guard troops in the city as President Trump continues efforts to ramp-up crime enforcement in the nation's capital.

Some of the 800 National Guard members deployed by the Trump administration to assist with law enforcement have begun arriving in Washington, D.C.

Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, a Democrat, who has denied crime is out of control in her city, described the troop deployment as an "authoritarian push". Trump, a Republican, has also threatened similar deployments against New York and Chicago, two other cities controlled by Democrats.
