Aaron Ramsdale has touched down on Tyneside ahead of his medical at Newcastle United's Benton training base. The goalkeeper, who will join on an initial loan from Southampton, is Eddie Howe's second senior signing of the summer after Anthony Elanga joined the club earlier this month.

Newcastle had previously been interested in James Trafford, but the 22-year-old has since re-joined Manchester City from Burnley.

Newcastle United have agreed a deal to sign Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on loan for the 2025–26 season, with an option to make the move permanent next summer. The 27-year-old England international has been cleared to undergo a medical and complete the transfer this week while NUFC complete their preseason Asian tour far from Tyneside.
