The Chiefs are going for a three-peat — something Tom Brady’s New England Patriots didn’t do over the course of their dominant 20-year run that included six Super Bowl titles.

At the midway point of Opening Night, Chiefs captains Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Chris Jones, Nick Bolton, Harrison Butker and James Winchester represented the team on stage, as did coach Andy Reid. The players embraced the Eagles captains, including Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown, while Reid and Nick Sirianni shook hands.

Drafting Mahomes and throwing him into a win-now situation with a complete roster in 2017/2018 was a master stroke. The man isn’t even 30 and already has a 17-3 playoff record as a quarterback. He is the biggest reason other generational talents like Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson have yet to even appear in the Super Bowl, let alone win one.
