Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski announced he'd be taking offensive play-calling duties back once again next season, according to Zac Jackson of The Athletic.
Kevin Stefanski is back to calling plays for the Cleveland Browns. This means he’s in charge of deciding what the team does during games.
Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed Thursday that he will resume calling the offensive plays in 2025. Stefanski relinquished play-calling duties to then-offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey after a 1-6 start this season.
BEREA, Ohio — Kevin Stefanski eliminated the distraction of playcalling questions all offseason by announcing during new offensive coordinator Tommy Rees’ introductory press conference on Thursday that he’ll handle the chore himself again with the caveat that “I reserve right to change my mind.”
Rees, 32, spent 2024 with the Browns' as a passing game specialist and tight ends coach. Prior to his stop in Cleveland, the former Notre Dame quarterback has coached with Alabama (OC/QBs), Notre Dame (OC/QBs), the San Diego Chargers (OA), and Northwestern (GA). The Browns hold the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
Stefanski called the plays for his first four seasons with the Browns before making ex-OC Ken Dorsey the play-caller late in the season.
