The New York Mets knew upgrades had to be made to their roster ahead of the trade deadline if they were going to keep pace with other contenders in the National League.

With a revamped roster, the Mets are +850 to win the World Series, per DraftKings Sportsbook, only behind the Los Angeles Dodgers (+285), the Philadelphia Phillies (+800) and the Detroit Tigers (+800). With the trade deadline moves, New York now has a payroll of $339.8 million, per Spotrac.

The Mets didn’t disappoint in 2025’s MLB Trade Deadline. As promised by Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns, they reinvented their bullpen by adding three top-tier pieces (Gregory Soto, Ryan Helsley and Tyler Rogers) and upgraded at center field (Cedric Mullins).

The Mets are reportedly acquiring St. Louis Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan, in exchange for a trio of prospects: Shortstop Jesus Baez (the team's No. 8 overall prospect ), pitcher Nate Dohm (No. 14) and pitcher Frank Elissalt.
