Gov. Ron DeSantis announced a new state panel that would imitate the federal effort by Elon Musk to cut federal spending.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Monday a new state program, modeled after the federal government's Department of Government Efficiency, to eliminate "waste, fraud and abuse."

The governor plans to eliminate more than 700 state jobs and use AI to investigate and “eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy,” he said.

"State DOGE task force" will be an effort to "continue to streamline and eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy," DeSantis said.

This new task force is designed to reduce inefficiencies, eliminate waste, and streamline operations across state agencies, education systems, and local governments.

As Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency make waves in Washington, Governor Ron DeSantis said he will start a similar effort in Florida.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Monday that he was creating a "state DOGE task force," inspired by Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency, part of President Donald Trump's administration.

“In Florida, we were DOGE before DOGE was cool,” DeSantis said. The governor discussed Florida’s low debt and major tax relief. In 2025, the spending has been significantly reduced from 2024, by billions. “We have one of the best transportation departments in the country,” he said.

Time is of the essence, per the Executive Order (EO-25-44): ” The EO DOGE Team shall report any legislative recommendations to the Governor, the Chief Financial Officer, the President of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives no later than September 30, 2025.”
