Lawmakers from Oklahoma and Kansas are reacting to a plane crash near Washington, D.C., as federal authorities investigate.

Families gathered at Reagan National Airport on Wednesday were met with devastating news as their loved ones' plane collided mid-air with a military helicopter.

WASHINGTON D.C., DC — Multiple Texas representatives have released statements Wednesday night after a plane collided with a military helicopter, causing it to crash near the Ronald Reagan Washington National airport. Officials said a search and rescue operation is underway, adding there is no information on any casualties at this time.

The U.S. Army described the helicopter as a UH-60 Blackhawk based at Fort Belvoir in Virginia. The helicopter was on a training flight. Military aircraft frequently conduct training flights in and around the congested and heavily-restricted airspace around the nation’s capital for familiarization and continuity of government planning.
