President Donald Trump is pushing Republicans in Texas to redraw the state's congressional maps to help ensure the party keeps its majority in the U.S.

President Donald Trump toured the devastation from catastrophic flooding in Texas and lauded local officials amid mounting criticism that they failed to warn residents quickly enough that a deadly wall of water was coming their way.

More than 111 people have died across six counties after flash flooding from heavy rain began affecting the state last week.

Kerrville’s mayor said he was unaware of any help sent by the state to his community ahead of the flood, a day after Gov. Greg Abbott said the state had “assets, resources and personnel” in place two days before a flood tore through the Hill Country.

Kerrville Mayor Joe Herring spoke at a press briefing on Wednesday about recovery efforts following Texas flooding.

Earlier Monday, the National Weather Service (NWS) for San Antonio warned that a "dangerous situation is occurring" in areas of Texas.
