A Southern University student is dead in what is being described as an off-campus incident. The student, Caleb Wilson, 20, and a Kenner native, was brought to a hospital in Baton Rouge around 3 a.m. Thursday unresponsive.

In a statement, Southern said the decision to cancel recruitment activities was made to ensure the safety and well-being of their student body.

Initial autopsy results are in for a 20-year-old Southern University student who was taking part in a fraternity ritual off campus when he collapsed and later died, a source familiar with the case said.
