Harvard University sued the Trump administration Monday, setting up a titanic clash between America’s most prestigious university and the federal government over academic freedom, federal funding and campus oversight.

The suit is part of a feud that escalated when the institution rejected a list of demands from the Trump administration.

Harvard University is suing the Trump administration over billions in funding after the White House froze more than $2 billion in grants because the school refused to accept demands for institutional changes that the administration has said aim to address antisemitism on campus — including a ban on foreign students.
