(NEXSTAR) – “Silver Bells,” one of the most enduring songs of the season, evokes warm feelings of Christmas cheer with lyrics about snowy sidewalks bustling with holiday shoppers and happy children.

LANSING — For 40 years, Lansing businesses have rung the Silver Bells around the Thanksgiving holiday to help draw people downtown and usher in the Christmas season. The celebration began small.
