Hundreds of passengers, mostly Americans, are stranded in Cambodia after rising fuel costs forced them off a luxury cruise ship that had been sailing around the world for more than two years.

Around 200 passengers who paid to live on a cruise ship while travelling the world were abruptly left in a Cambodian port after the company ran out of money, an official said.

Villa Vie Residences, a Florida-based start-up, gave the 200 passengers just hours’ notice to disembark from its ship, Odyssey, while it was docked in the Cambodian port city of Sihanoukville.
