Two police unions in Worcester are accusing City Councilor Etel Haxhiaj of District 5 of being aggressive and physically assaulting officers during an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrest on Eureka Street on May 8.

The union's statement called for the city to launch an ethics investigation into Haxhiaj's conduct and urged federal officials to take action against her.

WORCESTER ― City Hall will be closed to the public at 5 p.m. on May 13 due to safety concerns, the city has announced. The scheduled City Council meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the budget hearing at the Standing Committee on Finance at 5 p.m., both will be held virtually via Zoom.
