White House officials have said it was more economical to demolish the East Wing for President Donald Trump's new ballroom than to renovate it, citing structural issues.

Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News star who has found himself at the center of a MAGA civil war in recent months, attended a meeting at the White House with oil and gas company executives about the Trump administration’s invasion of Venezuela and seizure of its oil reserves.

Trump also disclosed that he plans on renovating Lafayette Park, located north of the White House, by ripping up the brick walkways and replacing them with granite. He said the move is partly to prevent protesters from grabbing bricks and throwing them — given it serves as a historic site for demonstrations.
