World shares are mostly higher after a rally for Apple led Wall Street gains. Markets appeared to have scant if any reaction to higher tariffs on exports to the United States that took effect early Thursday.

U.S. stocks ended higher on Wednesday, led by a more than 1% gain in the Nasdaq, as Apple shares climbed after news of its plans to announce a domestic manufacturing pledge, and as some companies delivered upbeat earnings reports.

O'Reilly Automotive and Genius Sports are two high-flying stocks that bucked the trend when the overall market tumbled recently. Wall Street analysts expect further gains from O'Reilly Automotive in the year ahead.
