Authorities in Scotland have canceled trains and closed parks as a rare summer storm brings destructive winds to northern Britain.

A powerful summer storm named Storm Floris is forecast to strike large parts of Scotland on Monday, August 4, prompting the Met Office to issue an upgraded amber warning due to the risk of damaging winds reaching up to 85mph in exposed areas.

The U.K.’s Meteorological Office on Monday issued an “amber” wind warning in Scotland for Storm Floris, meaning there is a potential risk to lives and property, especially from large waves in coastal areas. Network Rail Scotland said wind gusts of up to 90 m.p.h. (145 km/h) had felled trees across lines and damaged overhead wires.
