There may not be a more punishing course on the PGA Tour than Oakmont, and while several golfers have battled their way through 36 grueling holes between Thursday and Friday, few wear their emotions as openly as Rory McIlroy.
The Golf Channel analyst posted a lengthy rant on Rory skipping media to his Twitter account on Saturday morning.
In the week before the U.S. Open, Rory McIlroy revealed he played Oakmont Country Club and shot an 81 - which would be 11-over in tournament conditions. “Last Monday felt impossible. I birdied the last two holes for 81,
McIlroy smashed a tee marker on Oakmont's 17th hole on Friday evening, then birdied his last hole to make the U.S. Open cut with a shot to spare.
The Masters champion said he had been struggling to find motivation and in his second round at Oakmont showed frustration, but made it to the weekend.
