PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN) — A hiker was found dead on Mt. Hood Monday after not returning from a hike, authorities said. According to the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report on Sunday that Robert Tveite, 38, didn’t return home from his day hike the previous day.

GOVERNMENT CAMP, Ore. (KATU) — The body of a hiker reported overdue was recovered on Mount Hood on January 27, 2025. The hiker, identified as 38-year-old Robert Tveite of Portland, was reported missing by his family on January 26 after failing to return from a day hike.

A Portland man died last weekend while hiking the Cooper Spur Trail area of Mount Hood. His body was recovered on Monday.
