Actor Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa have been found dead in their home in New Mexico, the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office told CNN.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff's office initially said it did not believe "foul play was a factor," but a later search warrant affidavit ruled their deaths as "suspicious" amid an ongoing investigation.

Betsy Arakawa, Gene Hackman’s wife — a businesswoman, who was a steadfast companion of the screen legend and had musical talents of her own — died alongside him on Wednesday.
