A kayaker is lucky to be alive after being swallowed by a humpback whale off the coast of Chilean Patagonia and getting spit out by the leviathan.

A young Venezuelan packrafter briefly became a modern-day Jonah when a humpback whale gulped him up in its jaws and closed its giant mouth.

A kayaker off the Chilean Patagonia had a very close encounter with a humpback whale. On Feb. 9, Adrian Simancas, 24, was kayaking with his father, Dell Simancas, in the Bahía El Águila area of Chile, near the San Isidro Lighthouse in the Strait of Magellan, when the pair spotted a whale. The whale then briefly “gulped” up Adrian and his kayak.
